36 week sonogram!
Well we had bets going about how big she would be. 2 weeks ago she was 5 lbs 10 oz so we were thinking about 6 lbs 5 oz or so. I had seen my mom right before we left to go have the sonogram done and she had guessed Katie would have gained one full pound and be 6 lbs 10 oz but I was thinking that may have been too much. Well after the exam and the news that I was still carrying too much fluid (which is never good to hear expecially when there isn't much you can do about it) the sonographer said baby Katie is coming in at 6 lbs 10 oz. Way to go mom! right on the money! Here are a few pictures from her latest photo shoot

packing 2 bags?
Alright so I gave up on packing 2 bags. I'm packing ONE and I'll be lucky if I remember that! plus 2 pillows and the diaper bag with her going home outfit, blanket, booties, and a hat for pictures but other than that... I'm pretty sure I'll be lucky to remember those few things. Oh and the camera. I have to remember the camera bag and charger because leave it to me.. we will get there and it will blink low battery!

Packing a bag?... or waiting it out?
What do you exactly pack in a bag to go to the hospital?? There are lists galore when you look things up online and you can always get a friend to help you that has been there and done that.. but the one piece of advice I heard and believe I will use is to actually pack 2 bags! That's right TWO! One for before the baby.. like during delivery and what you will need while you are sitting there waiting for the baby to come, because lets face it, this is not a short process (or so I've heard about the first time around); and one for after the baby is here, her clothing to go home in, necessities for new mommy, phone lists etc.
I know I know everyone keeps telling me to pack my bad because at 36 weeks baby can come anytime. However if I get in the mindset of the baby coming early then I think I'll just go mad waiting these next 4 weeks out. Now I don't think... and a few doctors have told me they dont' think I'll last the full 4 weeks because last week we went to the doctor and they let me know I'm carrying an unusual high amount of fluid around the baby. That's right TOO much fluid around the baby. Now I have heard of not enough fluid around the baby and that is dangerous but too much... got me there. But yes it is actually a real thing called polyhydromnios, meaning too much fluid around the baby. When I went for my sono a few weeks back they noticed it was too high and I just got back from a sono Friday to confirm the fluid in fact has gone up. Now there is no harm to this except during delivery they have to watch me very carefully and want me in the hospital when my water breaks because there will be so much but other than that.. it pretty much means the baby has plenty of room to swim around... that's why I get those huge movements in my belly, and that I'm stretching extra large which you can see from the pics. 25 % of women who have this condition deliver early so... just waiting to see what happens I suppose. In the meantime Katie is moving like crazy and I feel like she may come early but again... everyone tells me "do not think that way" or you will go crazy!
I'll add photos of our sono we had done on Friday this week.
So all in all... I have started one of my bags, the one for after delivery, but refuse to have them ready at the door because I know that will make her late or so my crazy self thinks the more I'm ready the longer she will wait. But I must say recently she is feeling so heavy. Like a bowling ball ready to fall out of me! Definitely a strange feeling but maybe that's just her getting ready. Who knows! I'm learning to take one day at a time!

4 weeks and counting!
35 weeks!

36 weeks! goodness it's getting so close and after last week's picture I didn't think I could get much bigger but then I looked at this weeks picture and yep... I'm bigger!
36 weeks!...aka... bigger!

We have been working on finishing up the nursery and I think we are about there. Besides organizing a little more I think its about 90% complete. Bri put up the mobile on the crib this morning to add a cute finishing touch.

Here are a few pics of the nursery looking "almost done"

Last baby shower!
Me and Becky... the wonderful host!

Well 5 weeks to go. I can barely believe I'm 35 weeks pregnant! I don't know that I have done anything in my life for a straight 35 weeks; not a diet, exercise program, church every Sunday... I mean it takes commitment to do something that long. Not that I have a choice once I got myself into this... but 35 weeks is a long time!
Well today was my last baby shower. My dear neighbor Becky threw such a sweet party at her home full of thought out ideas like everyone making a onsie for Katie. We had a station set up for people to write on white onsies; little messages, stamps, or patterns. It was precious. They all turned out so sweet.
Onsie Station
The food! Thank you Bittersweet! That's all I can say. Everything was so delicious and courtesy of Bittersweet catering in Old Town. I want to have a party for no reason just so I can use them. DELICIOUS!
It was of course wonderful to see everyone including my first two babysitters. It was so fun seeing them and knowing they used to watch me and my brother and now I'm having one of my own. They were too cute and extra excited for Katie's arrival. They will be the two people that I know for sure will show up with balloons and stuffed animals the day we come home from the hospital.

Last day of work!
I can not believe it is the last day of work for me until this baby comes. Now I know a bunch of you are thinking... why are you taking off weeks before the baby is here? well, commute is tough, and I wanna take my time getting ready for baby Katie's debut into the world. While that isn't a great reason... it is reason enough for me and Brian. He is hoping I'm going to learn to cook more and keep the house tidy over the next few weeks. Last day is sad but exciting. Means I'm getting closer and closer to Katie's arrival!

A little something my office left in my chair to say goodbye and good luck. I work with wonderful people!

Baby Shower at Kady's!
Well... despite a few good friends not being able to make it (you know who you are ;) ) the baby shower was an amazing success! The food was delicious, the gifts adorable, and of course the company was top notch! I couldn't ask for a better group of friends. I had some there from all walks of life including my oldest and dearest friend who I have known since we were in diapers together. I can't believe I am going to have one of my own in diapers so soon!

Sonogram!
33 week sonogram! Wow it was incredible!
I read my weekly email before I went because honestly the most exciting part of this sonogram to me was finding out how much she weighed and the weekly emails update me, I assume pretty accurately. I had my 33 week email because I won't be 34 weeks until tomorrow and it said the baby should be around 4 and a quarter lbs around this time. So as Bri and I are waiting in the waiting room I told Bri the baby should be around 4 1/4 lbs around this age and reminded him that I felt huge so I think she would be at least 4.5 lbs. As they called us in I was so excited. As we got ready the sonographer put the wand on my belly and she said we were just going to have some fun with the 3D imagine. She let us watch Katie for 10 minutes or so before she started her measuring and checking up on things she needed to. It was amazing. Here are some of the photos from the 3D imaging!

Look at her little hands!

Totally has Brian's nose
SO... as the sonographer comes to an end of "play time" as she called it, she began to take the measurements and said, "Well before I even start measuring I can tell you that you have a good size baby with cute chubby cheeks as you can see in the photos." Of course Bri and I smiled but still waited for a number!
At one point the sonographer said to Bri, " you should really feel this, the baby is moving in two places across her stomach. That's a neat trick. I dont' see that very much." As Bri felt what she was talking about he kind of rolled his eyes saying... thats what I feel every day! But there is no such thing as a baby that is too active. a Moving baby is a healthy baby they tell me!!!
So as the apointment came to a close, she measured the fluid around the baby which was one of the reasons we were in there was to check that and said "Alright thats it!" I said wait how much does she weigh?!?! After all I had been dying to find out.
Well as she pulled up the screen of numbers that meant nothing to me and Bri she announced...She weighs 5 lbs 10 oz!!!! Bri's eyes fell out of head. He bent over and started laughing as the words came out of her mouth. 5 lbs... 10 oz! It was amazing. I hope I never forget that moment for the rest of my life. It really helped me understand what I was working towards and know that I had taken care of baby Katie and that at this point in time we had a healthy baby!
So all in all... the sonographer said I wasn't going to make the 6 more weeks I have until my due date!

Nursery!
Nursery is coming along. We got the curtains on Sunday so hopefully next weekend when I'm at my next baby shower Bri will find rods and stick them up. Here are a few pics from what we have done so far. Coming along slowly but surely!

Bri about to start putting together the crib. It really wasn't that bad. The dresser on the other hand was a total nightmare!

Sunny Skies!
I'm feeling pretty good. I took yesterday off from work eventhough it's the start of my last week of work. Not sleeping well at all. It's been a few weeks of that but it's getting old relly quick. I hope Katie drops a little so I can breath a little easier and get some rest. She has been so high lately. Took a few cute pics this weekend cus it was so nice outside. Our first Spring day it seemed like. Don't be fooled though we are supposed to get rain the rest of the week so I took advantage of the sunny skies for the day!

sunny skies! gotta love the first day I can wear short sleeves

bri's office baby shower
Well, Bri's surprise office baby shower was a success! We had tons of fun and I managed to keep it a secret for those few weeks leading up, which was surprising! Thanks to all the girls who put it together, Bri and I are truely thankful. We got tons of cute stuff including my first pack of diapers. You would think people would get ya diapers.. but believe me this was our first batch! I'm assuming we will need many more by the time Katie comes but this was at least a start ;)

Bri was so surprised!

Even more surprised when he found out I was involved and at his office for the festivities!

so delicious!

first baby shower
Well this weekend wasn't too busy... I started those never ending thank you notes from my shower a few weeks back. Goodness... just like the wedding I feel like I will never get them done. It was so wonderful for the hosts, Emily, Kristin, and Barbara to have the baby shower but I must say I was exhausted. I totally crashed after the party. Thanks to all those that came. It was such a special day.

mom and I about to leave for the baby shower! so excited!!!

Beautiful spread, of course I expect nothing less from Barbara. She is such a wonderful entertainer!

Starting a Blog
Well, I'm so so so pregnant right now but still have some time left, and since I'm going to stop working and set up the house for the baby, I thought I might have some time to blog about whats going on, when the baby is coming or rather when I THINK the baby is coming. I am starting this blog, (who knows how good I'll be about keeping up with it, this might be the one and only blog entry knowing me!) to keep track of my progress before our first baby comes! We are so excited I just thought instead of talking to everyone, and lets face it, these days I forget what I tell people so instead of getting confused and completely mommy brain-ish, I thought this would be easier. I am just starting to have baby showers coming up and since we know its a girl, baby Katie to be exact, I can't wait to see all the pink thats coming!!! I am so lucky to have the family and friends that I do and I just know this little girl is going to be so blessed and loved by everyone. Let the fun begin!!!
