I read my weekly email before I went because honestly the most exciting part of this sonogram to me was finding out how much she weighed and the weekly emails update me, I assume pretty accurately. I had my 33 week email because I won't be 34 weeks until tomorrow and it said the baby should be around 4 and a quarter lbs around this time. So as Bri and I are waiting in the waiting room I told Bri the baby should be around 4 1/4 lbs around this age and reminded him that I felt huge so I think she would be at least 4.5 lbs. As they called us in I was so excited. As we got ready the sonographer put the wand on my belly and she said we were just going to have some fun with the 3D imagine. She let us watch Katie for 10 minutes or so before she started her measuring and checking up on things she needed to. It was amazing. Here are some of the photos from the 3D imaging!
Look at her little hands!
Totally has Brian's nose
SO... as the sonographer comes to an end of "play time" as she called it, she began to take the measurements and said, "Well before I even start measuring I can tell you that you have a good size baby with cute chubby cheeks as you can see in the photos." Of course Bri and I smiled but still waited for a number!
At one point the sonographer said to Bri, " you should really feel this, the baby is moving in two places across her stomach. That's a neat trick. I dont' see that very much." As Bri felt what she was talking about he kind of rolled his eyes saying... thats what I feel every day! But there is no such thing as a baby that is too active. a Moving baby is a healthy baby they tell me!!!
So as the apointment came to a close, she measured the fluid around the baby which was one of the reasons we were in there was to check that and said "Alright thats it!" I said wait how much does she weigh?!?! After all I had been dying to find out.
Well as she pulled up the screen of numbers that meant nothing to me and Bri she announced...She weighs 5 lbs 10 oz!!!! Bri's eyes fell out of head. He bent over and started laughing as the words came out of her mouth. 5 lbs... 10 oz! It was amazing. I hope I never forget that moment for the rest of my life. It really helped me understand what I was working towards and know that I had taken care of baby Katie and that at this point in time we had a healthy baby!
So all in all... the sonographer said I wasn't going to make the 6 more weeks I have until my due date!
