6 months already!

I can't believe it has been 6 months and I am jsut getting to the updating this blog! That is so sad. :( I can't believe Katie is 6 months old. I can't believe I have nursed her for 6 months, I can't believe I haven't lost my mind, and I can't believe how lucky I am to have had this beautiful baby in my life for 6 months. Those things along with a bunch of others blows my mind. How I managed to survive and keep Katie well and thriving is something I didn't know I could do. With the help and support and love from all our family and friends Brian and I have made it through without any catastrophies. Thank God. Katie is doing wonderful. She is such a happy baby and oh so healthy. She is so big. I can't wait for her doctor's apt on Monday to see how big she really is. Her doctor's apts so far have all been good reports and besides a small case of Thrush (which I hear is pretty common) she has been healthy. Bri and I even had a horrible headcold and cough 2 weeks ago and are still battling the cough at night and Katie managed to fight it off. Thank you breastmilk I like to say. I am convinced she is healthy and (knock on wood) hasn't gotten sick because I continued nursing, and for those of you out there who have exclusively nursed you know it's not easy. (not using a bottle... is even harder!!!). 6 months down... 6 months to go. I must say I am kinda proud of myself for sticking with it. I remember some nights when she was 2 months old when I threw my arms up and said "I've had it, get a bottle Brian" but I stuck it out and I believe it was the right decision no matter how hard it was.
Here are a few photos from her previous "well" visits to the doctor

2 months visit. Katie was in the 90% for height adn weight! good job baby girl!

Pretty girl! so good for her shots!

Booked a c-section!

We schedualed a c-section for Friday April 30th. 4-30-2010 at 12:30! Om I'm so excited!

Due date has come and gone!

Well Saturday, my due date, has come and gone and guess what... surprise surprise NO BABY. After the doc's report of most likely she will be late I wasn't that surprised to tell ya the truth but still it would have been nice to have her this weekend. Brian fixed me another breakfast in bed complete with fresh squeezed orange juice. It was delicious but knowing we are going in on Wednesday means this is for sure the last pampered breakfast for me in bed for a while. I have such a sweet husband.
I am nervous about an induction and Bri and I talked about changing our minds and calling the doctor monday morning and talking about a c-section. The reason being that Katie is so big and after the doc saying it could be days before I start pushing and then 50/50 chance of having a c-section anyway due to her size after all that waiting around makes me think twice about if c-section would be easier. Lots of emotion and thinking ahead going on this weekend. Mrs. Paradise and I went to brunch this weekend hoping to get things started but again... Saturday has come and gone so ... so much for that tactic Kady. Thanks for the good old try.

Scheduled induction!

We got a call from the doctor about scheduling an induction and once I heard that we could get baby Katie out and about the sooner the better I thought so we went ahead and booked an induction Wednesday morning April 28th at 6:30am. Baby Katie if you don't come this weekend by your due date you are coming the 28th. I know I could just wait it out and see when she decides to come but in all honesty I think after 40plus weeks of being pregnant it's not like I'm cheating. I'm just being organized in my birthing process. Besides the doctor told me it could be 2 or 3 days because I have an unfavorable pelvis before I can even start pushing so.. maybe Friday will be the lucky day. I hope not. I'm hoping she will come this sat on her actual due date. Just a waiting game now.

Last Doctor's Apt

Well today is 39 weeks and 4 days and the last doctor's apt I'm hoping. I had the mindset and wishful thinking that I would go in there and the doc would check me and say "yep you're on your way, 3 cm dilated, totally effaced, just go right on over the the hospital and have yourself a baby." WRONG... oh so very very WRONG! Regardless of what she said... (everything is fine and in place by the way, just not moving along very quickly) I left the office feeling defeated. Why isn't Baby Katie ready for the world? Why doesn't she realize I am ready and really really really want her here? Why isn't my body making her come... time is up Katie... Lets Go!!!
But once I had calmed down and grasped that most first babies are late and stubborn I quickly started to make plans for the rest of the week thinking if I was busy, murphy's law, she would come while I had something planned for the day. We'll see!!!

Breakfast!

I love nothing more than being woken up to breakfast made by hubby! Bri decided to make me breakfast this morning because he figures the baby could be here any time and there would be no more "breakfasts in bed" or maybe breakfasts at all for that matter once we are sleep deprived and walking zombies (as someone referred to the first few weeks to me the other day)
MMMMMMMM delicious waffles with rasberries!

39 weeks!

I can't believe I made it to 39 weeks. Just a few weeks ago I thought there was an end in sight and at this point I feel there is no end! Went to the high risk doctor Friday and the baby is weighing in at 9lbs and with no signs of labor as of today the baby is still growing until the day she decides to arrive.

The good news was that the high risk doctor told me my fluid is low enough now that they don't need to see me again! The waiting game begins...
A few more photos Bri took this weekend

Got my ring off... CUT OFF

So sad... but I had to do it. It's been 2 weeks of me trying to get my ring to come off and finally Jennie and I went on down to King's Jewelers to get it taken off. I walked in and as I approached the owner working there who I recognized from time in the store, he took one look at me and said "you waited too long didn't you" With a smile on his face I smiled back and simply said yes as I hung my head in shame. He made me feel better as be brought out the "pizza cutter" and assured me this happens all the time. So nice and of course Jennie was there to catch it all in photos. Thanks jennie!

MY POOR HAND AFTER

It looks worse than it really is. It didn't hurt for any of you that have to have this done in the future. I just HAD to get it done after a friend of mine told me this horror story about a friend who went into labor and had to have her rings cut off in the hospital and as the emergency room cut the rings and pried them off her finger the setting was compromised and diamonds went flying!!! No thank you. This was the last thing I had to do before going to the hospital. DONE AND DONE!!!

38 weeks! and Bri's 31st b-day celebration!

HOW AM I STILL GROWING! COME ON!!!
38 weeks pregnant! Almost there! Baby could come anytime they say. Had a good doc's apt and the fluid is going down so all I need to do is start walking and maybe eat some spicy food to get the ball rolling! I even mowed the lawn today to try and get her to come!
We had a wonderful little bbq for Bri's 31st b-day with family and celebrated with a little badmitten game. I figured a little game of badmitten wouldn't hurt the labor starting process.
Well first hit over the net I fell down. Goodness I gave everyone a scare but proceeded to get back up and continue on with the game. and to no surprise of my own... even falling on my hands and knees didn't shake baby Katie out. I guess I'm jsut going to have to wait until she is ready on her own. I have tried everything!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY LUVBUG!

High risk doctor!

Friday! wow.. this has been the longest week of my pregnancy life! That is for sure!I feel like I went to my Tuesday check up like 3 weeks ago. Now something I left out of Tuesday's report: my midwife said (besides wow you are huge!), if you are really desperate just cry at your doc's apt on Friday and maybe they will induce you. Well I'm back reporting on my blog so I'm assuming you all understand there is no baby induction tonight. I did try scheming a little to see if I could get a date underway to get baby Katie brought into the world a little early but no luck! The doctor told me there has been an induction craze recently and everyone is trying to get induced because of "big" babies however he also told us that induction on a body that isn't ready for induction raises the chance of a c-section 40%. now if ya ask me... that is very high. All in all he told us that at 39 weeks if I don't have any signs of labor we can maybe talk about an induction but I'll just be 38 weeks tomorrow so that's at least another whole week of feeling huge! yikes!
The most exciting part of this week's high risk doctor's apt was we were going to get the weight of baby Katie! It has been 2 weeks now and we couldn't wait to find out! Lets see... at 34 weeks she was 5 lbs 10 oz which was big... then at 36 weeks she was 6 lbs 10 oz... and now at 38 weeks... drum roll please........ 8 lbs 7 oz! That's an 8 and a half pound baby with 2 weeks to go. Doc told us like this..."well, your fluid has gone down which is good news (from 29 to 25... who knows what that means) but you do have a rather large baby". Bri and I said oh that's OK how large.. like 7 lbs maybe and he told us 8.5 lbs. I about died! I asked if he was sure and with his adorable accent he said "yes I am sure I took all the measurements twice and came up with the same numbers each time which confirms that..." I stopped him right there and said "alright alright a big baby sheesh!" Another thing the doctor mentioned was that Katie's abdomen is bigger than her head right now which he politely told me means afgter I do all that work to get her head out, her body isn't just going to slide right out... I'm going to have to keep pushing to get the rest of her out! As we all nervously laughed a little he told us if we went the full 2 weeks which who knows maybe I will at this point, that I could end up with a 9.5-10 lb baby. good lord i packed up my things and said see ya next week doc!
As the doc left the room Bri's arms went up as if a football team had just scored a touchdown. I asked "Why are you so happy" in an annoyed but curious tone. He responded... "ohhhhh yeah we are having a chubby baby". Which is something he has told me from the beginning he has wanted a little rolly polly baby. Well Bri... looks like that's what you're gonna get ;)
