High risk doctor!

Friday! wow.. this has been the longest week of my pregnancy life! That is for sure!I feel like I went to my Tuesday check up like 3 weeks ago. Now something I left out of Tuesday's report: my midwife said (besides wow you are huge!), if you are really desperate just cry at your doc's apt on Friday and maybe they will induce you. Well I'm back reporting on my blog so I'm assuming you all understand there is no baby induction tonight. I did try scheming a little to see if I could get a date underway to get baby Katie brought into the world a little early but no luck! The doctor told me there has been an induction craze recently and everyone is trying to get induced because of "big" babies however he also told us that induction on a body that isn't ready for induction raises the chance of a c-section 40%. now if ya ask me... that is very high. All in all he told us that at 39 weeks if I don't have any signs of labor we can maybe talk about an induction but I'll just be 38 weeks tomorrow so that's at least another whole week of feeling huge! yikes!
The most exciting part of this week's high risk doctor's apt was we were going to get the weight of baby Katie! It has been 2 weeks now and we couldn't wait to find out! Lets see... at 34 weeks she was 5 lbs 10 oz which was big... then at 36 weeks she was 6 lbs 10 oz... and now at 38 weeks... drum roll please........ 8 lbs 7 oz! That's an 8 and a half pound baby with 2 weeks to go. Doc told us like this..."well, your fluid has gone down which is good news (from 29 to 25... who knows what that means) but you do have a rather large baby". Bri and I said oh that's OK how large.. like 7 lbs maybe and he told us 8.5 lbs. I about died! I asked if he was sure and with his adorable accent he said "yes I am sure I took all the measurements twice and came up with the same numbers each time which confirms that..." I stopped him right there and said "alright alright a big baby sheesh!" Another thing the doctor mentioned was that Katie's abdomen is bigger than her head right now which he politely told me means afgter I do all that work to get her head out, her body isn't just going to slide right out... I'm going to have to keep pushing to get the rest of her out! As we all nervously laughed a little he told us if we went the full 2 weeks which who knows maybe I will at this point, that I could end up with a 9.5-10 lb baby. good lord i packed up my things and said see ya next week doc!
As the doc left the room Bri's arms went up as if a football team had just scored a touchdown. I asked "Why are you so happy" in an annoyed but curious tone. He responded... "ohhhhh yeah we are having a chubby baby". Which is something he has told me from the beginning he has wanted a little rolly polly baby. Well Bri... looks like that's what you're gonna get ;)
